a little bit of q&a

How long will it take to “cut a rug”?

This depends on the amount of detail your rug design has and how comfortable you are with using the gun.

Average time to finish your rug:

Small : ~3 hours

Medium : ~3-4 hours

Large : ~4 hours

Is there an age requirement?

Yes. Due to safety reasons ages 14 and over only. A parent or guardian must sign the waiver for anyone under the age of 18 and must stay at Lowe Mill while the workshop takes place. No dropoffs allowed, we are not responsible for anyone under the age of 18.

Can I use my own graphic or idea for my rug?

Absolutely! You can pick any picture/design you like but graphics with lots of detail can be difficult and therefore may not be possible for the size you selected. The larger the details, the easier it will be for tufting. The smaller the details, the harder it is to navigate the tight details. Feel free to contact me with your image or idea to see if we can do it!

Can I customize or change the colors of the design I chose?

You can! You are limited to five colors for the Small and Medium frames and large frames are limited to eight colors.

What do I get with my workshop session?

Your workshop session includes all the tools you need to make your own rug-tastic design. Your predetermined design will be ready on your frame. We supply the yarn needed based on your size/design. The finishing steps of gluing, backing and trimming are included in the session cost. Also there are refreshments and snacks provided, but you can bring your own as well!

When will my rug be ready to pick up?

After your workshop is complete we will put all the finishing touches on your fuzzy masterpiece and you’ll be able to come back by the studio to take it home! If you are out of town or out of state we can mail yours to you for a flat fee.

What if I have to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Not to worry…you can cancel your appointment up to 12 hours before your workshop session and receive a full refund. If you cancel or are a no-show for your workshop 40% of your payment will be refunded to you. You may reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours before your booked workshop session.

Can two or more share a frame?

Unfortunately no. One person per tufting frame please.

Can I bring someone to watch me tuft?

Again, unfortunately no. Due to limited studio size constraints and also for safety reasons please do not bring any guests. Also please no children under 14.

Do you offer group sessions?

I do! If you have your own group and want to book a workshop please reach out and contact me at cutarugtufting@gmail.com or on the contact page.

Do you take walk-ins?

Due to the prep work and readying studio equipment ahead of time walk-ins aren’t an options.
